As reported in Engineering and Technology on 4th November, Germany wants 50-fold increase in electric vehicle charging stations by 2030**. This makes even more sense given than Tesla has sense announced that they are opening their Gigafactory there.
Creating an infrastructure of a million charging points means that the industry will need to participate in this effort, and opens opportunities for firms large and small alike to benefit.
In Germany, industry leaders are demand up front commitments. For example, Stephan Weil, the prime minister in Lower Saxony, where Volkswagen is based, said he wanted to see commitments for 100,000 public charging points in place by 2021.
Imagine if the UK stepped up and did the same, instead of the same old political runaround of delays and cuts to key programmes across all the whole of the UK.

Status in the UK
Going ALL Electric is one way to radically cut air pollution so that we can all lead healthier lives. We are told this is a priority. Currently there are over 15,000 charge points across the UK.
Manufacturers stepped up, building all electric cars. However, we must recognise that any move to leave the largest economic consumption point on our doorstep means that many other countries now look far more attractive.
Now is the time for fleet and facilities managers to plan on how to help their workforce become greener. From 6th April, ALL Electric Cars will have ZERO % Benefit In Kind. Follow me on Twitter to stay abreast of more ALL EV related posts.
However we need the Infrastructure. Many have not even heard that the Government has stepped up with grants. If you want to know how your firm can take advantage, just follow and contact me on Linked In.
